Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (1891-1956) envisioned a society based on liberty, equality, fraternity and manuski (Manuski is a Marathi word used by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and it stands for humanity, humanness and respect for fellow human being). Manuski project is dedicated to realise the vision of a new society based on Manuski and the main interventions of the Manuski project are in the following areas:

1. Transcending caste barriers through Social Develeopment Program

2. Fighting social discrimination through legal and constitutional ways

3. Developing Dalit Women leadership

4. Sustainability of the social projects and building solidarity amongst the individuals and organsations

 

 

 Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar taking water from Mahad Public reservoir in 1927. The law permitted access to this water tank, but people's religious belief prevented access to drinking water for untouchables.The mass movement for civil rights was inaugurated with this act of taking water from the public water tank.

 

"......for ours is a battle not for wealth or for power. It is battle for freedom. It is the battle of reclamation of human personality.  It is in the fullest sense spiritual. "
